Oil on illustration board, 21.5”x16”
This painting was… hard. It was too big in my head to see, and I didn’t know how to do what I knew needed to be done. I was just about ready to give up on it when it snapped into place with one of those resounding mental clicks you don’t get too often, and from there it just flowed.
I like this painting.

You know, there are some ideas that hit like a punch to the stomach, and you run after them because what else are you supposed to do with such a moment of perfect clarity? But the clarity gets muddied and the perfection gets tarnished, because we are only human and there is no human fallibility like that of an artist measured against their inspiration.
tl;dr: I’m not sure if the painting this drawing is for is going to be equal to what appeared inside my head.
