Sometimes I am reminded that I became a capable painter at some point in the past year and a half.

(So, I finished the damn painting, and I have a lot of thinky thoughts about it.)

Beren and Lúthien, watercolor on 11”x4.5” paper
This is old. Oooold. Sophomore year of college old. Jenna using watercolors old. But I got something in this, caught a thread of what would grow to become my artistic voice, and I still really do like it.

A Great Beauty
Oil on gessoed illustration board, 20”x16”
Completed about a year ago.
(I was looking through my art tag today and I realized that I’d never posted the finished piece. Which is dumb, because not only is it one of the gems of my portfolio, but I’d posted the almost-done version, that time I damaged it, progress shots, and the drawing.)

Unvarnished, and not a great photo, but done! Aaa! I am so proud of this piece it scares me a little.

Hello I am reblogging myself because I uploaded the newer, significantly better photo of the painting and I actually do want this version to get seen!

This is from my drawing-a-day thing, a page I haven’t put up yet. This took a little less than 20 minutes, and the center part with the actual image is around 1.25” wide by 1.5” tall, which means this picture of it is larger than the original.
Is it, in fact, from A Little Princess?

Hey guys I drew buttcap! I’m creepy and have photos of her on my computer.
Technically part of my drawing-a-day project.
