Tristan and Isolde
Oil on gessoed illustration board, 21”x13”
Unvarnished, and not a great photo, but done! Aaa! I am so proud of this piece it scares me a little.

Hello I am reblogging myself because I uploaded the newer, significantly better photo of the painting and I actually do want this version to get seen!

Click on the picture of me (arms crossed) in the presence of Gurney or this link to read my possibly-incoherent post not about the IMC, but my mental snarls! (To be fair, it started as a post about the IMC. It was meant to be a post about the IMC!)

An IMC classmate. Guys I can’t even. THIS IS BALLPOINT PEN. I watched her work a few times and yeah, it’s actually that insane in real life.

Brom (Gerald)

To learn from this man was incredible. He’s such a kind man and a great teacher, and not at all the kind of guy one would assume he is from looking at his work.

At the IMC, I did a complete first pass in three days that looks better than anything I’ve ever produced before. There are… no words.
You can click the photo for the progress shots!

You know, not the best photo of me, but next to me are Greg Manchess and Scott Fischer and it’s on James Gurney’s blog so you know I’m okay with that.

I really, really like playing around with borders. So many pretty things! Referenced from and inspired by The Complete Costume History, Renaissance Ornament 15th - 17th Century, and Kinuko Craft paintings.
(I’m having trouble reminding myself that I need to keep it relatively simple, as this is for a dress hem - which will be folding and turning and basically making a nuisance of itself.)

The Illustration Master Class 2012 is starting in two weeks. On my blog, I’m talking about the beginning of my progress!

Tristan and Isolde. Oh man oh man the sound I made when I saw it was an option? It was not dignified.
