Tristan and Isolde
Oil on gessoed illustration board, 21”x13”
Unvarnished, and not a great photo, but done! Aaa! I am so proud of this piece it scares me a little.

Hello I am reblogging myself because I uploaded the newer, significantly better photo of the painting and I actually do want this version to get seen!

I really, really like playing around with borders. So many pretty things! Referenced from and inspired by The Complete Costume History, Renaissance Ornament 15th - 17th Century, and Kinuko Craft paintings.
(I’m having trouble reminding myself that I need to keep it relatively simple, as this is for a dress hem - which will be folding and turning and basically making a nuisance of itself.)

The Illustration Master Class 2012 is starting in two weeks. On my blog, I’m talking about the beginning of my progress!

Tristan and Isolde. Oh man oh man the sound I made when I saw it was an option? It was not dignified.
