Hey Tumblr so I’m back from the IMC and I will answer uh all of the messages that have been rotting in my inbox for like two months in the next couple of days now that I’m no longer depressed/without internet/moving/at the illustration masterclass ahaha
but in the meantime have some IMC thinky thoughts
My queue has been set pretty high so you guys might not have noticed, but I haven’t actually been around for about threeish days! I am moving at the end of the week and my internet has been shut off, and the wifi I have been ‘borrowing’ is not reliable.
I feel super bad because I have a bunch of unanswered messages, some from SVA anons, but between the internet issues and the fact that I am juggling the upcoming IMC piece and the Rolemodels painting (which, I am realizing, I am going to have to book it on in order to have a photographable painting by the deadline), I’m not really going to be around much for a while.
I’ll get those messages answered ASAP - tonight, if I finish everything else - and I’ll keep my queue going. If you need me for something, please email me at jenna@jennakass.com.
In the meantime, here are my final IMC thumbs!
Hey guys sorry if you sent me a message or wanted me to see a thing but I have been snowed under and exhausted and I don’t really understand why when I look at my day-to-day but I do know that art is hard right now and I am just very, very tired and Tumblr is a bottomless pit and I will be functional again soon, probably.

Anonymous asked: Oh that's great to hear! Are you able to choose the location when traveling? And how do you get onto the honors program? And i'm great! Adding onto my portfolio. I'm really excited about it, so many ideas. How are you and have you been able to work at a place you wanted to?
Oh my god I just found this in the depths of my inbox. I am so so sorry.
To, uh, answer your questions: the Honors senior year Spring Break trip destination is chosen and planned by the program; you get into Honors by writing a short essay in response to “Why art?” and having a high enough high school GPA, I think.
I am glad you were great in October, Anon. I hope you are still great now.
In late October I was in hardcore freakout mode because Illuxcon was coming up and I had an actual table at the Showcase, for which I was pretty largely unprepared, and several other things were intersecting with that time period to make me all of the crazy. Now, in March, I’m doing pretty well… good things are happening, and if I can ever get my butt in gear to do a proper round of promotion emails to art directors, I might ever get a professional commission.
In the meantime, Starbucks doesn’t treat me too badly, and in a month the class I’m going to be teaching will start.
Not sleeping tonight until Holding the Pass is done. 5:30am shift at Starbucks tomorrow.
God is dead, there is only painting.

Instead, let me know what you want to see me draw more of, and/or what you like best in my art. (whoops did I say I was ‘going to’ post a self-indulgent meme?)
The odds of the suggestions I get ending up in my drawing-a-day are pretty high :D
I, along with two guys I know (one from school, one from the IMC) are finalists in the third quarter of the Illustrators of the Future contest.
If I’m selected, I’ll be illustrating one of the winning stories from the Writers of the Future contest, going to LA for a week for an intense workshop, attending a huge awards ceremony, and I forget what the prize money is?
Please excuse me while I spend the next two weeks in a fucking agony of suspense.
